Oldest Skopje club Kapan Han shuts down

Written on 31 May 2022 by Andrijan Kalashnikov

The oldest running club in Skopje Kapan Han hasn’t opened since earlier this winter, when all clubs came to agreement to open despite the COVID sanctions by the government. We presumed that a reopening will follow, however the owner has just confirmed that the nightclub will not reopen and the place will be used for something else.

Kapan Han played a crucial part in the electronic music scene development in Skopje, and was very famous for its techno, drum and bass and trance parties. It was located in Kapan Han in the Old Bazaar in Skopje and was the only night club in the north part of the city. The club had both indoor setting and a very spacious outdoor park, and to our knowledge it was the longest running night club in the city.

Unfortunately the clubs popularity lingered down for few years, a result of no management and attracting the wrong kind of crowd. It is unclear of what are the future plans for the place, however we’re very sad that the days of Kapan Han can be officially written down as past.
